Hello everyone, this is David Peters, the owner/operator of The Belfry recording studio. Welcome to the website for the new place! Through Tim's initiative in buying and converting this unique space, and through all the help we've received along the way from family and friends, I believe we've created something truly special. I've spent the last 15 years working out of all sorts of studios, from crudely converted bedrooms to large commercial facilities, from LA to London, but The Belfry is the most inviting, enjoyable, and effective studio I've had the pleasure to work in.
Song writing has always always been my central motivation for developing an education in audio. Since I was very young I've been endlessly fascinated with the elusive chemistry that goes into making a great album, both sonically and in content. I believe the shared experience of also being a writer making my own records helps me bond to the people and other projects I work with. The Belfry was designed using the knowledge I've gained from experience on both sides of the glass. We're not just running a business here, we're also artists ourselves striving to create compelling work.
Recording is a personal and often vulnerable exercise. The choices of who to work with, where to work, and which process to follow are choices that no artist takes lightly. At the end of the day we want to look back fondly not only at the music we've created, but also at the memories and friendships we formed through the process. I love introducing the new people I'm working with to my extended musical family and vise versa. The Belfry is quickly becoming a central creative hub for many of my favorite session players, writers, and other creative minds to connect and collaborate.
