Believe it or not, the equipment used to record artists like Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and the Beatles are often still the most sought-after tools used by today's top artists. Current manufacturers are still struggling to match the quality and character of the vintage classics. A few of these famous microphones and other pieces have gained legendary status as they've helped shape most top recordings over the past 50 years.

Through years of critical listening and patient acquisition, a focused collection of these classic, world-class recording channels and mixing gear has been assembled at The Belfry.  When the famous originals were unattainable, modern remakes were retrofitted with the key components which gave the vintage models their magic. Some of the Belfry's equipment is entirely custom built!  At the heart of the studio is a gorgeous vintage analog tape machine.  It provides that extra dimension of life and warmth absent in today's all-digital recording systems.
